Welcome from the Director and Deputy Director

Welcome from Emma Gundry, Director of Alternative Provision.

As the Director of Alternative Provision, it is my privilege to work with staff across all of our seven centres based in Cheltenham, Stroud and Gloucester, leading the strategic development of our provisions and working with colleagues across the education sector and within the local authority.

In addition to our in-school provision, the Altus School also has a primary outreach team who work with children in their mainstream settings.  We offer a range of support services including Play Therapy, behaviour support interventions and school CPD.  Further information about those services can be found on the Outreach section of this website.

We are a small part of a child’s wider educational journey and our highly skilled team work with young people to enable them to flourish in school and their wider communities, supporting their transition back in to a mainstream, specialist or post 16 setting as appropriate.  Students who complete their Year 11 studies with us gain a range of qualifications and successfully move into college, apprenticeships or the world of work.

Welcome from Claire Greatbanks, Deputy Director.

As the Deputy Director, I am the operational head of the Altus School, and work with staff and students on a day to day basis to ensure the smooth running of the school.  I oversee the entry of students into the school, as well as supporting their transitions out into new settings. I lead in particular on our inclusive practices in the school, developing our SEND, behaviour and attendance policies and practices.

I hope the website gives you a flavour of the work that we do at Altus and a copy of any the information contained on our website can be provided to parents and carers free of charge.  We are proud of what our students can and do achieve with growing resilience, confidence and self-belief in their own potential.
