Safeguarding Statement
At the Altus School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and as such we expect all staff, Management Committee members, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.
Our aim is to ensure that child protection concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways that support the specific needs of the individual child. Our staff form part of a wider safeguarding system for children as described in the statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023’ and will, therefore, work together with children’s services, the police, health services and other agencies to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
What should you do if you are worried about a child?
If you are worried about the safety of a child at the Altus School, you can contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Debbie Kirkham. Alternatively, you can also speak with the appropriate Centre Manager who is a trained Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
What should you do if you are worried about the behaviour of an adult working with children?
If you have any safeguarding concerns about an adult working with children at the Altus School, you should share these with the Director of Alternative Provision, Emma Gundry or the Chair of the Management Committee, Lyn Dance.
