Our students often present with significant need in relation to their learning; for many these gaps in learning date back to their very earliest school experiences. As of March 26 65% of students did not reach a good level of development at the end of their reception year. This means that the majority did not have the secure foundations for KS1 and for many, these gaps have persisted throughout their educational journey.
Therefore, at the heart of our KS3 curriculum are the ‘Altus Learning Foundation Skills’, inspired by the Early Learning Goals set out in the EYFS statutory framework . This means that the curriculum is designed at every key stage to provide activities and experiences to develop and secure these foundational areas.
